GAYLORD — Have you ever seen a painting and thought, “Hmmm. This could be better if it just had this one thing …,” but that thing is a cat in the background of a still life, Godzilla in the background of a cityscape, or something else that would just make the painting funnier?
The Otsego County Library has a program for you as community members are invited to the main library at 6 p.m. on Jan. 12 to add their own touches to art pieces from the collections of famous museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Louvre in Paris, and more. The library will provide the art and painting supplies as patrons just need to bring their creativity.
“This program is sure to be a blast,” said public services librarian Mariah Hoover in a statement. “I’m not good at painting my own things, but adding a goofy touch to a still life? That I can do. I added a mischievous cat to a still life with ham, and I smile every time I look at it.”
This program is ideal for those 13 and older, though it may be offered for other ages in the future. The program does require registration, which can be done by calling the library at (989) 732-5841 or by emailing Hoover at ref[email protected]. It will be held in the upstairs meeting room.
