Target is remodeling many of its stores: See before-and-after photos

Have you noticed anything new at your local Target?

The big-box retailer and one of the state’s most popular stores has been making some major interior design changes.

Target announced plans earlier this year to remodel about 150 stores nationwide in 2021.

The remodel includes:

  • Upgrades to the guest services, order pickup and drive-up areas
  • Updated lighting and fixtures in grocery, kitchen, beauty and beverage sections
  • Upgrades to touch-less bathroom fixtures and hand sanitizing stations
  • Shop-in-shop experiences in select stores, featuring collaborations with Apple, Disney and Ulta Beauty.

“We’re giving about 150 of our locations a major glow-up, reimagining the shopping experience with top-to-bottom makeovers including modern fixtures, enhanced experiences and the latest in health and safety,” a company statement read at the time. “These remodeled stores will join the more than 800 stores we’ve upgraded over the past four years.”

There are currently 48 Targets in New Jersey and more than 1,920 stores nationwide.

A Target spokeswoman was unable to provide NJ Advance Media with the exact number of New Jersey stores going through renovations in 2021, but she said at least 12 have “been remodeled over the past few years.”

“There’s much more ahead,” the statement said. “We’re bringing this enhanced shopping experience to hundreds more stores across the country in the years to come.”
